The ladies and men at Hythe Marina and the local U3A have been producing PPE for our local hospitals, care homes, GP practices and schools since 14th April. More than 3000 items of scrub bags, masks and aprons from duvet covers and sheets, plastic aprons and gowns from bin bags, headbands and ear protectors have been sewn and donated. Alongside the items, we have raised £2600 in Justgiving contributions for our sewing needs and now have donated the surplus to three local charities…The Waterside Women’s Refuge, the Oakhaven Hospice and Blackfield Food Bank. The enthusiasm and high energy levels from this group have been astonishing, determined to provide our local NHS Team with the protective clothing they deserved to feel safe doing their jobs during this crisis.
