History of the Marina

Hythe Marina Village was the first marina village to be built in the UK and modelled on the world famous Port Grimaud in Provence France.

Construction was in 3 phases starting in 1985. We are Located on Southampton Water’s western shore opposite Southampton’s cruise ship terminal. It is a unique development of a 206 commercial marina berths blended with attractive waterside homes, shops, restaurants, bars and a boutique hotel.

The village is made up of a series of courtyards that has helped build our strong sense of local community.

The marina has a broad collection of housing styles from apartments through to large detached houses which hang over the waterways. Most houses have berths at the end of the garden making your boating as convenient as possible. The lock is manned 24 hours 365 days a year and is capable of accepting boats of up to 17m by 7.8m beam.
